German bikers behave different in traffic. One chooses position here differently,  specially if you are waiting for a red light. It is illustrated by this picture on Alexanderplatz, Berlin. This is not an odd picture of silly situation: In Berlin this is regarded as normal.

Where I come form (Holland), the bikers who want to go to the left would stand on the left, waiting for their go. The road would be painted just the same as for cars. In Germany they want you stay as much to the right side as you can. Often I just do not know where to be with bike. Car owners sometimes yell at me, when I ride around on my Dutch intuition.

The idea behind it seems to me: We don’t want you to be here, buy a proper car.
